bpn_Wood Duck_1487-25.jpg

This species species can be easy to photograph over here, so when I saw the frosty wintry conditions (unusual for Wood Ducks as they migrate outta here before the winter) I had to try something different and include lots of the habitat. I put on a wider angle lens and waited for this over-wintering individual to swim in just the right spot. He is a lot closer to me than it appears in this frame. Hope you like it!

Dan it's a gem - well done, I really like the image, very different and it has great impact. A really unusual and worthwhile image, I could se this doing well in competition.

So different than most Woodie images. Great composition as a result of your preplanning and foresight. I like the slightly OOF ice in the foreground. Really l leads my eye to the duck.

OMG Dan, I don't think I have ever seen an image where you have shot 24-70 in all of my 16 years, bloody good call!
The crisp, white of the landscape really 'pops' the duck well and I like the inclusion of the FG ice adds a tad of texture.

I'll raise you a glass of Inniskillin Ice wine for this Dan.

This is a doozie, as we would say Daniel.

Love your decision to get away from the traditional 500/600 lenses. Outside the box and the Woody's colors just jump off the cold, pale canvas.

Artistic and unique, beautifully done!
