Black-eared-Kite-undersides-flight-_90Z8022--Akan-Crane-Center,-Hokkaido,-Japan.jpg

This Black-eared Kite was photographed during feeding time at the Akan Crane Center in Hokkaido, Japan. Live fish are placed on the ground for the cranes. White-tailed Se Eagles and the kites join in the festivities along with Carrion (Jungle) Crows! The snow acted as a giant reflector lighting the undersides of all the birds in flight.

With the hand held Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS II with the 1.4X III TC and the EOX-1D MIV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2 stops off the sky: 1/2000 sec. at f/5.

Don't be shy; all honest comments welcome.

The BrrezeBrowser screen captures shows the original--and thus the crop for composition, the histogram pushed all the way to the right, and the active AF sensor. Used APTATS II technique to move the bird down in the frame in two seconds.

Hi Artie,
Simple and elegant. I liked the tucked-in feet. Nice soft blue sky and nice placement of bird in the frame. No nits from me,
Gail

Very nice flight image! I love the underwing detail and the pose/HA are perfect.
