Really appreciated the community's feedback on my first image and was curious to thoughts on this one. I thought the puffed up nature and single leg stance of this American Coot eye catching and the light seemed to play well across the head. Looking at it now I've blown out the white on the beak. This, at a time when I was intentionally trying to expose everything to the very right of the histogram to allow maximum detail and adjust the washed out appearance in post. I've since found that doing this, too often caused small areas of white to be blown out. Now, I focus more on a little right of centre histogram which I find is capturing better images.
I also tried to get low here, but was limited by a boardwalk, the very top of which has created some haze at the bottom of the image (and the only reason I don't have more of the reflection here). I've brought the shadows up in post and if I recall correctly bumped up the contrast, saturation, and dehaze a little. I cropped a bit off the bottom sides to remove an ugly pond bush and the worst of the boardwalk edge.
