well it was not captured on a Sunday , but I got the U2 song in mind when I was looking for title .
Image captured in dec 2016 during the mating season of the Grey Seals on the island of Helgoland .
I have been there many times ... but this was the most epic fight I have witnessed in close range .
Today it would be almost impossible to capture the same thing , due to today's restrictions on the island .
I am not liking the concrete stuff in the BG ... these are wave breakers to protect the little island from being washed away in the winter storms .

Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 70 - 200 IS L II at 200 mm

F 9 ; Iso 6400 ; 1/2000 sec

Processed with PR 4 ; Darktable 5.0 and PSCC 2025 beta . Leveled and added a bit of canvas on both sides .

THX for watching and commenting to my previous postings

A powerful and intimate image Andreas, it must have beeb some experience to have been there, I bet you took a few shots that day! Super shot good tones and detail - I like it.

THX for your feedback Jon , glad you like it .
I took indeed a couple of shots ... but way less than I would do today :ROFLMAO:
Should have tried different stuff .. during that shoot , but was just too fascinated by the action .
Cheers Andreas

Thanks Kurt for your comment , much appreciated .
Just guessing ... so you are an " older guy " , but did not forget having been there on the Island . I bet a lot has changed since your visit !!
Wondering what have taken taken you to the island ... ??

Hey Andreas, age is all relative right? :) I bet a lot has changed indeed. My visit was brief, only a day, but occurred on an interesting journey in the year 2000. I was part of the Cutty Stark Tall Ship Races on the segments between Boston - Halifax - Amsterdam. The actual race conclusion was somewhere near Helgoland and so we decided to stop in at the island for a day before formally entering the port of Amsterdam. I had lived on that ship for 10 months a few years prior and jumped at the chance to be a part of the race. Sadly the ship has been at the bottom of the ocean off Brazil for a number of years now.

Oh well that´s an interesting story, about your brief visit to that little island !!
And you are fully right ... age is relative , i might have been mislead by your word " ancient " .
Sorry did not want to step onto one of your toes ... LOL.

Cheers Andreas

Not at all! I am just finding that in middle age, one's perspective of time is noticeably shifted compared to my 20's. I often think of my 20's as only a few years ago even though it's been more than 20 years ago lol.
