Lake Mortom 2020_11_28--221-645.jpg

Last November I received a call from Artie that he was a Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida and that the Great Blue Herons were building a nest. I couldn't get there the morning of his call but I did a couple of days later, the nest building was continuing. When Great Blue Herons build a nest the male searches for branches/sticks to bring back to the female at the nest. After a ritual greeting he passes the stick to the female and flies away to find another. She carefully places and secures the branch or stick into the nest, then awaits his return. This image captures the transfer of branch. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Lovely picture, well done. The Herons where I am have a lot more white in the head, neck and under wing which makes them a nightmare to try and capture. You nailed it with a great scene to boot
