This is taken at Ojibway Nature Center in Windsor. The bird is on his way in to the feeders. It is taken in the shade and the BG is leaves in the sun at a distance. All C&Cs welcome and appreciated.

Good flashwork Jim, and I too, like the inquisitive pose. Comp works well, and I would just darken the BG a tad, and remove the second catch light.

Nice alert pose with a good background and sharpness Jim.
If it were mine, I would remove the tiny catchlight point from the flash, but that's just a personal preference..

Nice inquisitive pose! Good (albeit rather plain) perch, and nice BG. I would be tempted to take some off the bottom, and add back above (as posted about 3/4" to 1"). I would also try to remove the faint OOF vertical branch in the BG cutting behind the tail.

Don't br afraid to bump up the ISO with those low shutter speeds...the 40D can handle it!

Jim, nice and sharp with the slowish shutter speed and great work with the fill-flash. The perch is plain but I like how it runs diagonally front to back.

Very nicely done. I assume it was a natural perch, so not much you can do about it
Nice composition, good HA, sharp details with a complementary bkgd .

I'd also suggest removing the 2nd catchlight and working on the vertical dark OOF band/branch in PS. There's a post under digital workflow where Charles Glatzer explains how to do it easily with Content Aware in CS5 : http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=63346

Jim, very nice shot. I would love for a little more relaxed look. You got him as he was just ready to jump off that branch. Love the shot none the less. I have been wanting a good shot of these guys. They are common around here, but for some reason, I just don't have that nice of shot. Kudos to you!
