We had a great day at Venice Rookery yesterday. Quite a few young GBHs in the nests but there are also some adults just getting started on their nest building. Great egrets are displaying and nest building. Didn't see any young egrets or anhingas yet. We had a window of about 45 minutes where there was no wind and consequently no ripples in the water surrounding the nesting island. I grabbed this reflection shot of a pair of great blue herons who were preening at the top of the shrubs against a blue sky and flipped the reflection 180 degrees in CS6. Comments and Critiques welcome. I hope this is posted in the correct area.

Hi Mark. It must have been such a thrill to see these Herons in their nests. The position of the Heron, grooming I take it, and the lovely blue background work well here. I think the reflection might work better turned the other way if it included the birds as well as the reflection. I look forward to the comments of others, and more posts by you.

The image is a lovely reflection. However I think it would be best interpreted if it was in the expected reflection position with a bit of reality to anchor it.

Hi, Mark, welcome to OOTB! I like the reflection - it seems very peaceful. I agree with Nancy and Anita that a little bit of reality would anchor the image. I also think a crop from the left so the birds are centered would be a good idea.:S3:

Hello Mark, I would like to comment but your image has gone missing from Flickr, so it doesn't display here. Why don't you post your images to BPN? If you do post an image as a link to Flickr, you need to make sure that the image isn't deleted or moved from it's original location.

I've just started posting on BPN and find it easier to post embedded links from either Flickr or Smugmug. We travel full time in our motorhome and don't always have a great internet connection. We are also limited in how much data we can use in a month so posting directly to BPN adds to our data usage. Granted uploading images to BPN does not use a lot of data but in the grand scheme of things, every little bit saved counts. My reasoning is the images are already uploaded to either Flickr or Smugmug and embedding a link in a BPN post uses less data. Of course this also seems to cause problems because I see thumbnails do not appear in my BPN posts. I just checked my BPN post and can access the image on FLickr by clicking on the image inside the post without problem. Perhaps there was a temporary problem with Flickr earlier today.
