On the afternoon drive, we came across two gorgeous females resting up in the Mopane shrubbery. This one just kept gazing at us, but it's only when you get really close, you appreciate the size and strength of these endangered animals. The clock is ticking to get back and catch up with ex BPN members and get back to Africa.

A very good evening to you dear Steve,

First of all just want to say I am so happy you are coming back to Africa soon, yay ☺️

Don't think I've seen half of the images you captured on your last trip. This is new to me. Your lioness here is lovely, yes a big girl, she looks calm and relaxed, love the pose, beautiful colours, those mopani leaves add to the image. Nice techs, beautiful detail, well exposed, maybe a tad more at the top but I am sure you know and like you said you were really close, happens to me all the time.

Love this, and love the light, a lot. Lion portraits still my favourite. Just so special to be able to see those features up close, such magnificent eyes and look at those eye lashes, powerful jaw and menacing teeth... Thank you so much for sharing!

Warmest regards,

Gabriela

Hello Gabriela, what a nice surprise as again, NO notification of replies.
🤞 with Skiing shelved its going to be a few tough months but, however I bet you too can't wait before heading off to KTP, you have some awesome locations, so fingers crossed for some cool encounters and perhaps something to share if you are still around and or have the time. Dinner is on us if you can make the dates.

You haven't and yes she was, both were nursing three little fur balls, but again hidden in the Mompane. Spot on, yes too tight at the top, but that's the penalty for a fixed lens, but f/2.8 so nice in low light. I'll pop another over, but with the uncertainly of no electricity, zero Wi-Fi and hours that seem to be disappearing fast within an hour glass, you might get to see it perhaps by Easter.🤞

Hard to think these are on the endangered list, be nice to see a big male with a really jet black main.

Thanks for swinging by and taking the time to comment when time is oh so precious. :)

Dear Steve,

Time flies, yes a few tough months ahead but some awesome trips in the pipeline for us both, just cannot wait for May. Early June I will most probably be somewhere in Eastern Europe, then a long wait till September for some Kruger Park time. So looking forward to spending some time with you, as soon as you have the dates please drop me a line.

And I loved your lioness image, thank you so much for email. Hope you get to see the fur balls on your next trip, they'll be very energetic and playful by then! Regarding big male lions with beautiful black mane...mmm...join us in the Kgalagadi and you'll see plenty☺️

Have a wonderful evening and speak soon,

Warmest regards,

Gabriela

Whoa! I feel like this cat will join me in the room. I like the side, spackled light here-adds some depth.
