This is a photo I took a number of years ago on one of our trips to Costa Rica. This was taken at Paraiso Quetzal Lodge, certainly a favorite of ours. The bird, a Long-tailed Silky Flycatcher, is common but not always easy to photograph. This individual (and its mate) had built a nest near our cabin and was easily photographed coming and going to the nest. On this particular day it started to rain (this is Costa Rica). The bird settled under this flowering branch and stayed there throughout the rain-any umbrella will work in a storm.
Shot with a Canon R5, 100-500 at 500. Processed in PS, with significant cropping from L and top. A number of bright water droplets on the leaves were cloned out; a number of hot spots in BG were brought down considerably and the shadowed areas on bird were brought up slightly. One OOF leaf was cloned out on R.
