Cheetah-Zuka-Oct-2024,-01.3.jpg

Last Thursday I was returning from work around 4 pm and not far from my home I happened to come across my boys hunting. What joy! But only had the Z9/400mm combo in the vehicle so tried to get ahead of them to capture a few images as they walked towards a herd of wildebeest grazing nearby. When I realised the three cheetahs almost caught up with me it was a bit late, sadly could not capture the images I wanted so instead settled for a few portraits - here is one of them.

Not the best light as you can see but did my best to expose correctly. It was after 4 pm, slightly overcast, a few sun rays penetrated the clouds and created this interesting warm light, barely touching the cheetahs.

Techs as follows:

Nikon Z9
Nikon 400mm F2.8 TC @600mm
ISO 1800
F6.3
1/2000s
0 EV

Hope you enjoy this. And thank you kindly for viewing and commenting on my previous messages, I truly appreciate it.

Warmest regards,
Gabriela

One cool looking Cheetah Gabriela, in good light, slightly overcast is best, simple to process and he looks great and no HL's to battle with. Well framed, with just the right amount of space to look into, and around. The creamy, buttery backdrop with no distracting elements makes the Cheetah pop and creates great separation.

DoF is perfect, everything nicely sharp generating bags of detail, ISO1800 on the Z9 is a breeze, requiring minimal, if any, DN.

To coin a phrase, 'a pleasure to view'. :)
