Glossy Ibis, Jamaica Bay NY

Jamaica Bay is my stomping grounds when I want to get some neat shore bird shots. I think someone else here likes this place also...(he said with a sheepish grin).

This image was captured one late morning after spending the early morning shooting the little shorebirds. Sometimes, not always, the Ibis here can be approachable if you go slow and low. At one point this guy was too close and I had to remove my x1.4 converter to get him in the viewfinder, this is one of those images.

Nikon D2x, 500mm AF-S, ISO 200, f8, 1/800, Skimmer Ground Pod, Wimberley Head II

This is a very nice image George, the low angle really goes well with the pose. Nicely done!

Low angle and light on bird does it for me One of the most difficult to light up the feathers !!!! Excellent !!!!

Great image George with the ruffled feathers , low angle and rich color. Also I really like the pose in this capture.

George, there is lots to like about this one. Nice light, bg, low angle, and fluffed up bird. I also like that you were able to capture the bird's wonderful colors. The raised foot is cool too.

This is a winner, the plumage looks stunning and although his body is turned away a bit, his head angle is good. The background is gorgeous and the low angle completes
the package :)

Happy New Year, and I LOVE your signature picture.
